{"id":6687,"date":"2020-01-07T11:10:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T11:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vivreauportugalconsulting.com\/?p=6687"},"modified":"2023-04-03T15:54:43","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T14:54:43","slug":"portugal-will-refund-iuc-imported-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vivreauportugalconsulting.com\/en\/le-portugal-va-rembourser-iuc-des-voitures-importees\/","title":{"rendered":"PORTUGAL WILL REIMBURSE IUC OF IMPORTED CARS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Portugal reimburses IUC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The year 2020 is starting strong for the <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/eco.sapo.pt\/2020\/01\/05\/fisco-ja-devolve-iuc-cobrado-a-mais-sobre-carros-usados-importados\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"rank-math-link\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Portuguese government<\/span><\/strong><\/a>In fact, the tax administration has reluctantly decided to reform the calculation of the IUC (imposto unico de circula\u00e7\u00e3o) for vehicles imported by Portuguese citizens or foreigners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Portuguese tax authorities have for many years considered imported vehicles as new cars, which means that they deliberately failed to take into account that these vehicles had already been registered in another European country and therefore were no longer new cars but used cars.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today the Portuguese tax authorities acknowledge their mistake, even that their way of proceeding was \"limited\". Better still, they recognize that the owners are entitled to recover the overpayment of the last 4 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Portugal condemned by the European Court <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This rectification of the way the IUC is calculated follows a condemnation by the European Court in 2018.
