New price lists for medical consultations are being introduced in Portugal (ADSE conventional system), which set the price to be paid by the health insurance provider health<\/a> and the provisions regarding beneficiaries and contracted providers take effect today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the new fee schedules, the cost of consultations billed to the beneficiary will increase from the current 3.99 euros to 5 euros, while the amount reimbursed by the ADSE will rise from 14.47 euros to 20 euros, but as the ADSE notes in a statement published on its website, there are situations where the opposite occurs\u2014that is, where the new rates result in a decrease in the amount paid by the beneficiary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How the New Schedule Applies <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u00abWe emphasize that the commitment made from the outset\u2014not to increase beneficiaries\u00bb copayment percentage\u2014has been honored. In certain situations, the schedule even provides for a reduction in the copayment amount,\u201d the note states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For teleconsultations, the ADSE\u2019s contribution is 14.47 euros, of which 3.99 euros is the copayment to be paid by the beneficiary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the specific rules, the tables indicate that visits exceeding the annual limits set out in the medical consultation table are subject to prior authorization, or that the ADSE covers only one general practice visit or visit to the same specialty per day, regardless of whether it took place under the private or contracted care system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, when a significant number of medical appointments take place during a given period, the ADSE may require a medical report to justify the need for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this price update, which is intended to strengthen the conventional network by avoiding reliance on the free care program. The revision of the fee schedules includes new medical procedures, removes others that were obsolete, and sets caps on thousands of surgical procedures, hospital medications, and prosthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of these caps is to avoid \u00absurprises\u00bb on bills, as noted by the ADSE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recalling the \u00abextensive work\u00bb behind these new contracts, the ADSE emphasizes in the memo that it sought to ensure, throughout this process, \u00abthe best interests of beneficiaries and, at the same time, to maintain an ongoing, frank, and transparent dialogue with all healthcare providers, with the goal of establishing equitable agreements that do not compromise the sustainability\u00bb of the healthcare subsystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The review process covered 18 schedules of rules and rates for the agreed-upon plan, which are part of the schedule for the standard plan under the health protection and assistance program for public administration employees and retirees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tables were originally scheduled to take effect at the end of the first quarter of this year, but the effective date was postponed to early July and then again to September 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
