In 2020, gross monthly compensation per worker rose by 2.9 % to 1,314 euros, according to data published Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The regular component increased by 3.3 % to €1,073, and the basic remuneration rose by 3.4 % to €1,007. Variations in real terms were identical to nominal variations, according to INE. In Q4, average gross monthly earnings per worker (employment) rose by 3.5 %, compared with the same period in 2019, to €1,473.
The regular component of this remuneration increased by 3.4 % and basic remuneration by 3.5 %, reaching 1,078 and 1,012 respectively. Given that the rate of change in the consumer price index (CPI) was negative (-0.2 %), the increases in average wages per worker in real terms were 3.7 %, 3.6 and 3.7 %, respectively, reads their analysis.
These results concern around 4.1 million jobs, corresponding to Social Security beneficiaries and subscribers to the Caisse Générale de Retraite.
