&amp;NewLine;<p>Last night&amp;comma; in a televised address&amp;comma; the Portuguese government, through the intermediary of Portuguese Prime Minister&amp;comma; Antonio Costa, presented its anti-inflation plant to tackle rising gas and electricity prices&amp;period; Measures which will undoubtedly&amp;comma; help the vast majority of the population to cope with soaring prices&amp;period; <&sol;p>&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;<h2 class&equals;"wp-block-heading">The Portuguese government presents its anti-inflation plant&amp;nbsp&amp;semi;<&sol;h2>&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;<p>As the Portuguese government pointed out last night&amp;comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;portugal&period;gov&period;pt&sol;pt&sol;gc23&sol;comunicacao&sol;noticia&quest;i&equals;governo-aprova-programa-de-2400-milhoes-para-apoiar-rendimentos-das-familias" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank" rel&equals;"noreferrer noopener">the support package<&sol;a>These measures, which are designed to mitigate the effects of inflation and rising energy costs, will total 2&amp;comma;4 billion&amp;semi;euros&amp;period; For the record&amp;comma; the measures concern the following areas &amp;colon; incomes&amp;comma; children and young people&amp;comma; pensioners&amp;comma; electricity&amp;comma; gas and fuel&amp;comma; rents and transport&amp;period;<&sol;p>&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;<h3 class&equals;"wp-block-heading">What kind of assistance is given&amp;colon;&amp;nbsp&amp;semi;<&sol;h3>&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;<ul class&equals;"wp-block-list"><li>Reduction of VAT on the supply of electricity from 13 &amp;percnt; currently to 6 &amp;percnt;&amp;comma; a measure in force until &amp;rsquo&amp;semi;December 2023 &amp;semi;<&sol;li><li>Extension until the end of the year of the suspension of the carbon tax increase&amp;comma; of the return to citizens of the additional VAT revenues and the reduction of the PSI&amp;period;<&sol;li><li>Allocation of an extraordinary payment of 125 euros to every citizen who does not receive a pension and whose income does not exceed 2,700 euros per month &amp;semi;<&sol;li><li>All families, regardless of income, are entitled to an extraordinary payment of 50 euros for each dependent child up to the age of 24;<&sol;li><li>Payment to pensioners of 14 and a half months' pension&amp;comma; instead of the usual 14 months&amp;comma; the additional half-board being paid in October &amp;semi;<&sol;li><li>Pension increases in 2023 of 4&amp;comma;43 &amp;percnt; for pensions up to&amp;rsquo&amp;semi;886 euros&amp;comma; of 4&amp;comma;07 &amp;percnt; for pensions between 886 and 2,659 euros&amp;comma; and of 3&amp;comma;53 &amp;percnt; for other pensions subject to &amp;semi discounting;<&sol;li><li>Freeze on public transport season tickets and CP fares for the whole of 2023 &amp;semi;<&sol;li><li>Maximum discounting of residential and commercial rents limited to 2 &amp;percnt; in 2023 &amp;semi;<&sol;li><li>Creation of extraordinary support for rental&amp;comma; by granting landlords a tax advantage on property income in terms of IRS or IRC&amp;period;<&sol;li><&sol;ul>&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;<figure class&equals;"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class&equals;"wp-block-embed&lowbar;&lowbar;wrapper">&amp;NewLine;<amp-twitter data-tweetid&equals;"1566898072885526531" layout&equals;"responsive" width&equals;"600" height&equals;"480"><&sol;amp-twitter>&amp;NewLine;<&sol;div><&sol;figure>&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;&amp;NewLine;<p>The eight measures were approved at a special <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;vivreauportugalconsulting&period;com&sol;autovoucher-aide-20-euros-prend-fin&sol;" data-type&equals;"post" data-id&equals;"8760">Council of Ministers<&sol;a> The promulgation of the diploma by the President of the Republic came as the Prime Minister was still completing the presentation of these measures at his press conference at the Palais national d&amp;rsquo&amp;semi;Ajuda&amp;period;<&sol;p>&amp;NewLine;
