&NewLine;<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Expatriate tax reform postponed for a year</h2>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The tax reform for non-resident French citizens, which was due to come into force in <strong><a href="https://vivreauportugalconsulting.com/fiscalite-des-francais-non-residents/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">effective January 2020</span></a></strong> is postponed to January 1, 2021&period;</p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Government backtracking </h3>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The government has finally decided to postpone by one year the reform of the taxation of non-resident French nationals. This reform, which was supposed to bring the taxation of residents into line with that of non-residents, is rightly causing a great deal of concern among French nationals living abroad&period;</p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>This decision was adopted on October 15&comma; through an amendment to the 2020 Finance Bill currently before the National Assembly&period; This delay will enable Parliament and the government to clarify the consequences of the reform on the diversity of situations of non-residents&comma; a <strong><a href="https://www.economie.gouv.fr/presse/communiques/gerald-darmanin"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">explained the Ministry of Action and Public Accounts in a press release on October 17.</span></a></strong>&period;</p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Currently&comma; certain French-source income of non-residents &lpar;salaries&comma; wages&comma; pensions&rpar; is subject to a derogatory withholding tax &lpar;with three brackets &colon; at 0&nbsp&semi;&percnt;&comma; 12&nbsp&semi;&percnt; and 20&nbsp&semi;&percnt;&rpar;&period; </p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The reform passed last year provided for these revenues to be taxed at 20 &percnt; from the first euro&comma; then at 30 &percnt; above 27&ThinSpace;520 euros&period;</p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<figure class="wp-block-embed-wordpress aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-vivre-au-portugal-consulting"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">&NewLine;<span class="v5y0p3cr8wxmxij6dn2unrm"><blockquote class="wp-embedded-content" data-secret="l4midt7h9m"><a href="https://vivreauportugalconsulting.com/fiscalite-des-francais-non-residents/">TAX OVERHAUL FOR NON-RESIDENT FRENCH CITIZENS</a></blockquote><iframe title="« refonte de la fiscalitÉ des franÇais non rÉsidents » &#8212; vivre au portugal consulting" class="wp-embedded-content" sandbox="allow-scripts" security="restricted" style="position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px);" src="https://vivreauportugalconsulting.com/fiscalite-des-francais-non-residents/embed/#?secret=l4midt7h9m" data-secret="l4midt7h9m" width="600" height="338" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no"></iframe></span>&NewLine;</div></figure>&NewLine;
