THE NUMBER OF FOREIGNERS LIVING IN PORTUGAL HAS DOUBLED IN 1 1/2 YEARS

In Portugal, "non-habitual residents" - 23,767 this year - are mainly French, British and Italian. The living conditions and tax advantages offered by the country are the main reasons that attracted these expatriates.

“Le nombre d’étrangers ayant choisi de vivre au Portugal a quasiment doublé”, advertisement on the front page, the Diário de Notícias. "In just a year and a half, between January 2017 and August 2018, the number of non-habitual residents (NHRs) in Portugal, attracted by the tax benefits offered by the governmentincreased by 83 %", says the Portuguese daily. There are currently 23,767 people with this status.
