As a general rule, the time it takes to obtain a Social Security Identification Number (NISS) varies from a few days to several weeks. It is advisable to take into account the possibility of a maximum waiting period that could exceed four weeks, and to prepare accordingly. This period will be calculated from the date on which the power of attorney is signed.
To obtain a Portuguese social security number (NISS), you must have established your tax domicile in Portugal. You will therefore be required to provide us with your tax address in Portugal.
